Star Saturation

Hi Gents

I am trying to increase star colour saturation and have followed your tutorial as far as creating the
star mask which I have done OK.
Now this is when I fall over as I dont understand how to apply the mask to the image so I can adjust
only the star colour!
Sorry if I am having a thick day can you help

Harry here is what works for me.  Create your mask.  Now select the image you want to mask and on the top tool bar select Mask.  A window opens and in the dropdown  choose Select Mask.  A window opens and now in the dropdown select star mask.  This will apply the mask.  Now open say the Color Saruration tool and add some sat tothe stars.  Right click on the image and remove mask.

Harry i don't see anything to giggle about.  Nice image.  Good resolution and very nice colors in the galaxies.  Background looks good and if I had anything critical it might be in an area that I am not very good at either and that is star shaping.  By using your star mask you can then go to Morhpological transforms and play with Minimum or Morphological filters and shape the stars a bit better.  There is a thread on that on the forum and her is part of the thread by Vincnet and Carlos.



No, what Vicent suggest (and what I use) is:

Morphological Filter

Operator: Selection 0.2 (or Minimum)
Interlacing: 1
Iterations: About 7 (or up to 10)
Amount: between 0.1 and 0.2
Selection: 0.2 if not using the Minimum

Structuring Element

Size 3x3 or 5x5
Way 1 of 1
CIrcular Structure or Diamond
You may try two ways, one with a circular structure, and the other with a diamond.

Thresholds Both at 0.00000

Hi Harry,
to increase saturing star colours I use Curves Transform, Color Saturation is too much agressive for my pleasure, I use an specific star mask not inverted constructed without scales beyond of 32px as they say the tutorials, when I have star mask applied on the image open Curves Transform and I operate on channel S and channel C, when I finish with this open Morphologycal Transform and I reduce the size of stars by means of the circular structure> Minimum Filter.

Thanks for the help and I am trying to do this but I am having variable results ( none good)
Also do you have any tips on misshaped stars!
I have a bit on this forum but do not follow it very well
