Sorry to ask such a basic question but just starting with PixInsight (latest and up to date version). Watching Harry's excellent videos but I am stuck on getting preview windows to work.
When Harry  selected new preview he then clicked on the image and drew a preview box which could be moved and resized. If I do it I get a dialog box which if accepted pus a preview in the top right hand corner (if cancelled no preview) and I cannot work out how to adjust it.
Thanks for any guidance.

You have to use the "New Preview Mode", that is right next to the move/zoom buttons, in the toolbar. Also there is a "Edit Preview Mode" that allows you to change the size and position of the previews.

Thanks Carlos
Yes I was pressing the 'New Preview' button and later the 'Modify Preview' buttons just to the right of the 'Full Desktop' button, but either bring up the Preview Properties dialog box. I agree either allow modification of the position and size of the preview window.
Is it that 1.8 RC7 no longer allows one to use the mouse to select or modify the position and size of a preview window and it can only be done via the dialog box (hope that is the correct terminology)?

Hi John,

Are you sure that you're clicking on the Toolbar button to the right of the Zoom and Pan buttons? The tooltip shows "New Preview Mode" on mouseover - this button lets you interactively draw the new Preview.

The New Preview... selection in the Preview Menu and the New Preview button to the right of the Full Desktop button both open the dialog to enter the Preview parameters. A bit confusing I know.

Hope this helps,

Sean

Should be able to use the "hot key" command easy enough & bypass the whole tool bar initially.  "Atl + N" keys will give you the que to drag out your preview to whatever size you want in whatever position you want to place it in the full image.  Then you can place your cursor either on any side or at the corners to resize (you'll see the cursor change to the small arrow point lines for dragging the preview box out or smaller).  You can then go to the tool bar to do any further editing or deletion of the preview.   Works pretty easy this way, as for zooming in, click on the preview tab to bring up the preview in a 1:1 scale view you can then go to either the regular View menu & use the zoom in or out tools, go to the regular tool bar same thing or if you use a wheel mouse set it up to use the wheel to zoom in and out.....  I believe the mouse wheel is setup for this in PixInsight by default if you haven't changed anything, at least it was for me.  Same for all of the above, it was all setup that way from the default installation.
