Problem with image alignment
« on: 2013 May 18 01:32:22 »
I'm having trouble using Star Alignment tool to align my frames taken in the Green filter. The luminosity images had no issues. I tried all settings I could think of and tinkered with many variables but it keeps trying to find an alignment solution to no avail. Can someone please let me know if they can get this alignment working in their PI? and if yes, how did you do it?!

Can someone download the calibrated images and try to perform the image alignment on their system? Were you able to get it work, and if yes, how?

Hi,

I'm sorry to say that these images cannot be registered with our StarAlignment tool. With default parameters, our star detection routine fails because it finds more than 25,000 false stars on each image. This is because the images have very high noise levels. I can work around this by adjusting star detection parameters, but then the problem is that the images are out-of-focus. Our star detection routine rejects most of the stars because they are 'concave' (brighter in their edges than in their cores).
