When to do Mosaic Star Alignment and Gradient Merge
« on: 2012 December 08 08:31:02 »
Hi Group,

When developing a mosaic, when should I execute the mosaic alignment procedures?
1.  As soon as the separate images are integrated (and cropped)?
2.  After all of the linear operations (DBE, MMT, DECONV), but before the non-linear operations?

Thanks for your help.

Mark

It is possible at any time. I prefer to do it after integration, since after further processing the likelihood of diverging image characteristics increases - and that is something that no merge process can fix for you. On the other hand: non-linear images have less problems with artifacts created by MergeMosaic.

So i would suggest you try both.

Thanks Georg,

My first trial was just prior to doing the histogram stretch, and it worked well.  Just was wondering if there was a more suitable place to do the merge.

Appreciate your input.
