First time image with Lowband.
« on: 2012 November 18 09:59:39 »
Hi !

I have bought a used Starlight Xpress H9 and have started with test imaging by use of a tool name AstroPhotographyTool, APT. APT came with a new release with support for CCD cameras this week. The images i get is very bright, even with a Ha filter. The signal is in the "middel" of the histogram. When i capture with a testversion og Maxim DL i get an image as expected, dark with signal in the "left" side of the histogram.

The image captured with APT can be stretched so the result becomes equal to a stretched image taken with Maxim. My question is, is there some info in the fits header that defines something that can cause this ?. Are ther other things that can give such a result ?

Just a wild guess: your camera (the documents states) is 16-bit. Make sure APT is reading 16 bit and not 12 or less.
Like I said: wild guess.

Erik,
when you load a file from another software into PI -
usually when the histogramm starts in the middle, the saving of the file
was done in signed integer format instead of UNsigned integer format.
APT should allow to save in unsigned integer format.
