masked colour saturation stretch?
« on: 2012 November 12 09:23:48 »
Hi Group,

I'm using PI v1.7 on the 45-day trial.  I've watched Harry Page's videos (repeatedly) without which I would probably be totally lost (thanks so much Harry).

All has gone well up to the Masked Colour Saturation Stretch step where, when dragging the luminance mask sidebar title (created by clicking on the Extract CIE L* component icon), over an empty region on the target image sidebar, the target image turns bright red!

I would be grateful for some pointers on the error in my ways!

Thanks much,
--jv

P.S.
With the exception of getting the debayer step correct (do not know why this was not automatically handled based on the FITS header data), I'm already finding PI to be more satisfying to use than PS.

hi, the red color is simply PI showing you the mask. if you right click on your image and look in the Mask menu, you'll see options to show/hide the mask, enable/disable the mask and invert the mask. in this case if you want to see your image without the mask, hide the mask. if you look at the status bar at the bottom of the PI window, you'll see "Masked" indicating that a mask is able. if you disable the mask, the only UI feedback is that "Masked" changes to "Masked (Disabled)". pretty subtle.

I need a little help. To which of Sir Harry's videos are we referring?
