NGC 6872

NGC 6872 is a colliding galaxy that has been show cased by ESO http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap071031.html
This image is a LRGB of NGC 6872 and its interacting partner IC 4970.  This is one of the largets barred spiral galaxies recorded so far.  Thanks for taking time to look.

I love the way you really show off the extended arms on the spirals...they trail off to quite an extent.

A fantastic image.

What I like the most is the resolution and how you have revealed the dimmest parts of the spiral arms. The background is also very smooth.

What I don't like are the stars. They are clipped, especially the brightest ones. If you manage to protect them well (say with a StarMask for example), this image would be really incredible.

By the way, the APOD image that you have linked is very poorly processed. It is a shame all that wonderful data wasted. Can you imagine what could be done with those Hubble images in PixInsight?  8)

An awesome image. We specially like these faint arms of the galaxie. We agree with Juan about the galaxie nucleous and the stars, they can be improved.

Thank you for the critique.  I plan on re working the image as soon as this dark cycle ends and I am done collecting data.

This forum is great!  I think it is especially important not to worry about giving good critiques as that is how we will all learn.  Much to my dismay many of the other forums have developed a couple of problems.  One is once an image is posted many of the good critiques are sent via private email to the imager who did the image so as not to "embarrass" him on the forum with a critical post.  The second problem is that turns the forum into one big pat on the back as there are only good comments and no critique.  I like very much that this is not the case here.

Este foro es genial! Creo que es especialmente importante que no se preocupen por dar buenas críticas como que es la forma en que todos aprendamos. Mucho a mi consternación de muchos de los otros foros han desarrollado un par de problemas. Uno de ellos es una vez que una imagen se puede encontrar muchas de las buenas críticas se envían a través de correo electrónico privado a la cámara que hizo la imagen para no "avergonzar" él en el foro con una crítica posterior. El segundo problema es que el foro se convierte en un gran palmada en la espalda como sólo hay buenos comentarios y no la crítica. Me gusta mucho que este no es el caso aquí.
