Internet connection needed for PI
« on: 2012 October 26 05:32:40 »
Hi everybody!

After extensive research I decided not to learn dozens of AstroPhoto tools, but only one, the best. So I took a deep breath and bought PI. I downloaded and installed PI with my commercial license without any problem. However, every time I start the program it needs Internet connection to:

vps4175.inmotionhosting.com(173.205.125.124)

If I do not allow it to connect, I get this error message:

Unable to download repository information http://update.pixinsight.com: Network error: couldn't connect to host

The PI site says that with a license I do not need Internet connection to run. Question is: what do I do or did wrong and/or does it influence the normal program processes in any way if there is no Internet connection when I start PI without the so-called "repository information"?

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,
dzso.bacsi

P.S. Having a DSLR, I am afraid this is only the first questions in a long row of future ones... ;)

Regarding DLSR, see http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=4794.msg33149#msg33149 as a starting point.
Regarding Internet-Connection: The commercial (bought) version does not check the license via Internet. However, it checks for updates. If you dont have an internet connection, just click cancel and work without updates.
