Minor bug: browsing folders when opening files doesn't show all folders on WinXP

Hi,

I've seen this several times.  When I try to open a file and need to navigate down a directory heirarchy not all folders are shown.  Sometimes they appear after a long time, or after repeated selections of the "up folder" button.  It has taken me more than 5 minutes to eventually be able to select the file I wanted to open.

Any ideas?

I see the same behavior on my XP system.  Although, on my system, it generally only takes a few seconds for all the sub-directories to appear.  From a programming perspective, this may be the expected behavior, at least , when there's a delay of only a few seconds.  It seems to be populating the view with the most recent directories you've viewed in the past.  This gives fast access to those you most commonly use; however, it can become annoying if you switch directories a lot.   Perhaps, there should be an option to turn this behavior off if it is unwanted, assuming this is the expected behavior.

I'm not sure why it's taking your system so long to refresh.

It may be my machine's speed.  It's an old 400MHz Celeron (1999 vintage).

I see the same behavior within xp on all my machines. It"s doesn't happen everytime but more often than not. I can load the file by typing in the file name and often after doing so the file pops up below. But all other files are still not displayed.
