Hi,
I took images of the "Baby Eagle Nebula":
There are pretty bad gradients in it. But as you can see, the lower half of the image has some semi-transparent nebulosity. How can I remove gradients from there without removing the nebulosity? When I set sample points in the nebulosity it almost disappears. When I don't set any sample points, the gradients in that area remain.

With a simple application of ABE the gradient disappears while the nebulosity remains

+1 on Dimitris' solution. When I have an image full of nebulosity, ABE at the default settings often does way better than anything I can do with DBE. If that doesn't work, check out this post for some ideas on how to use DBE is tough situations:
