Error message when starting PixInsight

Many a time, when starting PixInsight, I get error message as per the attachment.
Once I get this message, if I try multiple times, I continue to get the error message.

If I reboot my computer, sometimes the problem goes away, sometimes it does not.

When the problem is there, I am connected to the internet and access various sites.

Any suggestions?

In my case sometimes it takes far too long for PI to start. I suspect this has something to do with the update checker. See if the problem goes away when you disable 'check updates on startup' in the preferences. I just disabled it on my laptop and will occasionally check 'by hand' to get updates.

Hmm, that didn't help at all. I exited PI and restarted it. Probably took 20 seconds to start, much too long. Exited again and restarted. This time it came up in about 3 seconds. It's still doing some kind of 'phone home' it seems.

Are you referring to the preferences in PixInsight?
My Pixinsight is not starting at all and hence I cannot even get to the preferences at startup.

Well yes, only PI preferences will affect PI preferences. You said the problem does not always happen.
