Windows 8: Juan has a point
« on: 2012 March 13 07:03:00 »

This guy clearly is not a power user but then again not all PI users are either. I used to think they (we) were but with increased adoption (yay!) of PI comes a wider user base with varied computer literacy. I suppose we'll have to read the little booklet that comes with every windows license. Maybe it'll say how to get back to Metro. Or maybe MS will wise up and give users an option at install/config time to just get the start button already.

I think that MS is making a mistake if they put Metro above anything else. I have seen people act just like the guy in the video. So my message to Juan about Metro would be: Just wait and see...

Well it's coming regardless of what we think :) It's just that we should be prepared with our own video or article to show how best to use PI with W8. I haven't been bored enough yet to try it in a VM. As I wrote in the other thread PI is but one of countless W7 apps that somehow need to be usable with W8. In other words if Photoshop can be used with W8 PI can too. Same for AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Outlook etc.

Basic W8 usage problems are really of no concern to us. People will upgrade to W8 or buy a new computer with W8 and will either figure out how to use it (a manual goes a long way, as does a smidge o' googling) or give up and switch to MacOS or Linux or whatever pain they want to inflict on themselves :)
