Welcome
« on: 2012 March 04 03:49:21 »
Welcome to the Image Processing Challenges board of PixInsight Forum.

Sharing raw data with other people is the best way to learn image processing. We believe that everybody can learn and grow with this initiative:

* Who processes data acquired by others, because this gives them the opportunity to work with fresh material that they perhaps can't get with their own means. Even if one can acquire better images than those posted here, working with different data will always pose new challenges and teach new lessons.

* Who shares their data with others, because there's nothing better to discover new techniques and ways to see and understand one's own images.

* Software developers, because this is a great source of fresh data to test our new toys! ;D

To upload and share your raw data, processed images, icon files, etc,  we encourage you to use our new PixInsight Files service.

Enjoy!

This is going to be great for all, I think! I've uploaded a few frames to the PixInsight Files service and will share them in a new thread. I'm not sure how the 'official' contest will run, but I can't wait to see everyone's workflows in action.

This will be a great opportunity for experienced imagers to weigh in on things that could be improved with the frames themselves, leading to better raw image acquiring, data calibration, and master frame integration as well.

Hi Josh,

Well, I don't know if we'll run this as a contest or just as a set of challenges, which is the initial intent. It will depend on how it goes and what the people want it to be, but it will be a lot of fun for sure :)

Fabulous idea. This provides access to professional data that is otherwise impossible to acquire. Going to have a go at the ALHAMBRA data.
