My IC410 in halfa

Among the beautiful pictures I have seen in this section  I show my modest IC 410.
7 hours, with sbig ST2000, william optics FLT98 refractor and, obviously, a baader halfa filter.

I am new in use of pixinsight and i am trying different processing ways. My feeling is that pixinsight works really well with a large signal to noise ratio, but in  images like this where because of the sky, ccd not very sensitive, and not really long exposures i am not able to reach good results.
Is difficult explain in english my sensation about this image, seem to be grainy and without details on small scale, almost blurry.
My processing steps are, two histogram stretches, two HDR Multiscale transforms one on 5,6 layers the second on 3 layers, curve adjust, noise reduction and wavelet transform.

Your result is nice, but I'd suggest that you start by keeping things simple and use a minimum of tools, especially with not too much signal. Take a look at this project, where I've made a quick try with your data:

My steps have been:

* Noise reduction to the linear image with MultiscaleMedianTransform
* Nonlinear stretch with HistogramTransformation
* A mild dynamic range compression with HDRMultiscaleTransform
* Large-scale noise reduction with ACDNR (mainly to the background)
* Clip the unused portion of the histogram after ACDNR

Yes i have found data :D do not worry.
Thank you, has been instructive. The great problem with pixinsight is to decide how to "attack" the image, there are so many possibilities.
For example i have never found information about MultiscaleMedian Transform (MMT) used for noise reduction, and usually i have applied noise reduction finally, never at the beginning before stretch. This is interesting, so you can apply more than one stretch after, without amplify noise.

In general i would be more soft ;) noise reduction is a little to aggressive, but HDRMT is too much soft :P but this my opinion and a ground to start a new processing.

Just one question and a suggestion.
First, why have you done a ACDNR? the image appear to be soft also without this step, and why at beginning have you used MMT to reduce noise instead ACDNR?
Second, could be useful to create tutorial using "normal" images, in the site examples are about incredible images with a lot of signal where you can do everything you have in mind without worrying about noise. But with normal integration, more or less 5 hour is very difficult to find an approach to processing  faint nebulas and dust.

A new attempt, i think that after HDRMT there is need of Wavelet Transform to enhance details on small scale.
Here a comparison between new and old version, but i don't say which is the new, tell me what do you think is better ;)
I have also applied a procedure for stars reduction, but is the first time i try it in pixinsight and could be better.
