star alignment PCL error with saving file
« on: 2012 January 15 19:05:56 »
I am getting the following error with the latest version of PI in performing image registration (StarAlignment) This is true for both the Windows and Mac versions...with the Mac version I was able to do a small number. Under windows, I have Run as Administrator checked, so it does not appear to be a related to permission policies of windows.

Any Help is Appreciated, Thanks,

Tim

Your images are 4096x4096 and the first one you are trying to align with the referenced one is getting a shift of +4089.96 by  +4098.41 px???
Can you verify visually that they are of the same region of the sky and not rotated somehow?

Tim,

Try to avoid the use of ( ) in filenames. Maybe that will fix the file saving problem.

Enzo.

but it also shows dx, dy of about 1 to 2 pixels. Not sure about the large # in the translation matrix.

If I do via views it works but I have 216 images to go thru!

OK, I will try. How do I change 216 file names? In OSx and Windows?

I use this one on Windows: http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php . Quite powerful (and complex), but once you have found what you need, you can store the configuration in a file.

To make sure the () signs are the problem, just align 2 or 3 images at first.
Renaming lots of files? On the Mac, use Automator.

Thanks for the links, let me first try if this is the case by taking out the parenthesis on some files and trying it out...luckily I brought my Mac-book to the office and will give it a try.

This looks like the problem, as windows added the parenthesis when I dumped all the files from several nights into one folder. Just tried 14 images all done without issue.
