Hello

Usually I use HDRWT with a scale of 10 to 12 on nebulas images to increase the large scale patterns.
On the new HDRMultiscaleTransform, without multiscale selected, if I put 10 to 16 in the number of layer (with for example B3 Spline 5) the result is totally bad (totaly black area and totaly white areas)
from 2 to 9, it is working like before.

It was working fine on old version
Also, the speed is much better on this new version  :D

It happens on OSX 32 & 64  and Win 32 and 64.

Please could you check ?
I will try to make screen copy (I think one of my computers has not been updated)

Philippe

Hello
Ok, I prepared a example with scale 10 on an image (exactly same settings on each PI processes, start image stretched with exactly same parameters)

Here is the oldHDRWT result (the working one)

Here is the NEW HDRWT result

You can see the large scale function from 10 (to 16) is now useless

Same on Win32/64 and OSX32/64

Any comment ?

Cheers
Philippe

Hallo Philippe!

Your image ís 2048 Pixels wide und 10 Layers means to my knowledge to work on structures 512 pixel wide.
What improvements could you achieve so far with using HDRWavelets with layers 12  on images 2048 pixel wide???
Means what can you achieve when the wavelet structure is bigger than the whole image?
I am very interested in learning new tricks.
Aloha
Gerald

Hi Gerald

I use this for very large scales on nebulas. It increase the contrast of the nebula instead of compress the dynamic range too much.
I know I could use ATWT for this but I prefere HDRWT algorithm.

Best,
Philippe
