PixInsight Lesson/Consultation?
« on: 2011 October 30 13:59:22 »
Hello

I have been using PixInsight for some time, off and on, with some reasonable results.  I wonder whether there some way of getting a paid lesson/consultation by an expert, where I upload my images to a shared site (eg Dropbox) and get advice about how they could be optimally processed, seeing if they can improve the workflow and result beyond what I have achieved.

While the forum is very useful, I find the lack of really accessible comprehensive documentation for PixInsight a problem.  Given that PI is a complex program, it would be very helpful to see what someone really knowledgeable with the program could achieve with my data which is from an SBIG OSC camera. Although the program is evolving, it would be very useful to develop a somewhat standard workflow for my images.

Just a thought.

regards

David

Hi pfile

Thanks for your willingness to help out.  I have uploaded images of M83 (confusingly called NGC5128) in a shared folder on Dropbox.  Please send me your email address and I will provide the link.

regards

David

David,

i have processed your data on my side with practically the same result than yours..
I saw the impressive result of Pfile; i will retry to reprocess the files again!

You told me that Pfile described his work path; can you tell me where to find it?
I am kind of curious what differences there are

Thanks for the nice data!!
Clear Skies!!

what i did was to make a PI project and upload that to dropbox.

unfortunately it is quite huge, like 480MB or something. i made a process icon for each step (well, for each step up to DBE, and one huge process container for everything post DBE). the description for each process icon says something about what is going on in that process icon.

someone uploaded "DBE-integration.jpg" to the shared folder and it looks better than mine. don't know where that came from, dropbox does not say.

i guess i can share the project with you if david is okay with it. it's in a different folder than the subs.

Yes, it would really interest me to see perhaps a different way of processing and learn some new things!

Thanks
