Wide Field of M31 in RGB at 255mm f/4.2
« on: 2011 October 10 04:54:01 »
Hello
Here is a M31 image taken with QSI-540WSG on FS60CB at 255mm f/4.2.
For chromatic issues with FS60 and reducer, I didn't use the Luminance filter but only R,V,B and Ha filters.

Blue : 12x15min
Green : 11x15min
Red : 11x15min
Ha: 9x15min

141 bias, 47 dark of 900s, 21 flat for each filter, 22 dark of 30s for Ha flat.

Preprocessing and Processing PIXINSIGHT
Final color adaptation : toshop

RGB version with Ha on red channel

WOW.  Stunning image.

The detail in the dark area is great as is the balance of the stars.

Super Image!

Really fine details, super colors and nice small Ha Emission spots!!
Absolutely flat field also!

What other Hardware did you use on this?

Congrats!!

Cheers

Hi Philippe,

I really like this image, it's beautiful. What puzzles me is why stars have nice blue color, while outer parts of the galaxy do not. I would expect the galaxy to be more colorful.

best regards, Zbynek

Thanks to all of you

@Lex:  what do you mean by other hardware ? My mount is a Takahashi JP-Z with FS2 drive. For flat field, I use a Gerd Neumann screen.

@Zbynek : it seems M31 is not "blue" like we find evry time. Here, we are closer of a DSLR rendering. If I make a color calibration in PI, I obtain this (also by other methods). But neutral rendering was the goal of this image

cheers
