Graphic, Functionality Problems OSX 32bit...
« on: 2011 October 18 04:49:12 »

Hi,

I run the OSX 32bit version..
My OS runs under 64 bit but i decided to use the 32bit PI version because it seemed way more reliable than the 64bit one?!?

I do not know why but there are some graphic problems, i.e. when changing the parameters windows in DBE tool the graphics are getting stuck and the DBE window turns or flickers blue ( I did not yet manage to Screenshot this... )

The other problem that I have noticed twice is while working on an image and dragging a window away, f.e Preview, without paying attention then it can get stuck under the top toolbar --> impossible to close down??

So guys; this is my point.

BTW: The whole Rest of PI is absolutely awesome!!!!!  >:D

Cheers

Lex

As far as we know and have tested, the 64-bit Mac OS X version of PixInsight is fully stable and reliable. It only has a few screen glitches, mostly wrong cursor shapes on some windows, but they have nothing to do with the application's stability and performance. Some users have reported that under Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) the 64-bit version crashes on exit, but this doesn't affect stability for actual image processing work either. We are currently trying to fix these problems.

This has not been reported before. Indeed we would need a screenshot or a list of steps to reproduce the issue. If we can't reproduce a problem we usually are unable to understand and fix it.

Please note that when you move a workspace child window beyond the visible area, scroll bar(s) appear at the left/bottom edges of the workspace (you can see them in the screenshot you have attached). Using those scroll bars you can access hidden window title bars and hence move them as necessary.

Juan,

Thanks for the quick response!
I will try to make a screenshot and add a replay text explaining actions taken to achieve the "problem"..

For the scrollbars, i even did not notice them because I had around 0 degres celsius in my observatory and my awareness was not really present; thanks for the tip; my fault  :-X

Thanks again for all!

You're doing a great Job folks!!!!

Clear Skies!!

i frequently have problems with the 64-bit version. eventually after processing for a while i'll get a "low level API abort". sometimes when i drag a process triangle, i get multiple copies of the triangle on the screen, like when you hold a mirror up to a mirror. kind of a cascade of 3-4 process triangles. PI is sure to crash shortly thereafter.

it's stable enough to use only because of the project functionality. if PI gets into a bad state i'll save everything as a project and restart PI, loading the project again under a fresh copy of PI.

These are approx the same issues I noticed with the 64bit version, that's why i swapped back over to the 32 one; because of the stability...

Best
