My latest image. This time of the Cocoon Nebula IC 5146.
I really wanted to try out the OAG properly with a hard target and some deep subs.
So I pushed the RGB to 10 minutes at 2x2 bin and then combined some 20min Ha 8nm subs into it. Total time was about 6 hours.
I combined the Ha to the Red at the integration stage of the Red rather than after the RGB combination to try to get the deep dust lanes and more of the blue from the nebula edges. I found that trying to add the Ha to the RGB was giving the usual pink effect and dimming the whole image.
Taken on the Skywatcher MN190 and the QHY9 Mono + 2inch filters. TS OAG and QHY5 ontop of a neq6 mount.
I managed to get the deep dust lanes and the outer blue glow of the nebula. I also found using this method, I didn't blow the older orange stars with the usual deep dark red rings.
I hope you like it.
