When doing image integration, will I get a good result integrating images of differing exposure, or should I just separately integrate and then combine with the HDR tool?

Integration will do just fine. The algorithm has been programmed to take care of different exposures by looking at the noise (for example.)
HDR is a different technique when you want to integrate exposures that have very bright and very dim zones and you'll want fine details on both (such as the central regions of M32 while wanting to keep at the faint nebulous details around it.)
