How to grade files

Hello everybody,

Just came to the world of PixInsight and in the process of learning this powerful tool day by day. 

I've been an ImagesPlus users for 3 years. In ImagesPlus, there is a nice feature called "grade files".
It evaluates each subexposure file according to star shape or focus accuracy.

I wonder if there is similar feature in PixInsight.

Not yet. I agree it is a very important feature and it is definitely in our to-do list; we'll try to implement it as soon as possible.

Meanwhile people that are looking for this feature and don't have ImagesPlus can use DeepSkyStacker which does a great job of grading images. DeepSkyStacker Live monitors a folder and plots the quality (or other parameters) as images come in. Indispensable during imaging.

THANK YOU, Nocturnal, for posting about Deep Sky Stacker Live! I didn't know about it, and it looks like it will be incredibly useful to me and my students.

DSS-L is a terrific addition to DSS (which was already great). At first I wasn't sure why it would be handy and then I started using it. I keep the image quality graph on my computer while capturing and I can keep an eye on the session while I watch TV or read a book. A big dip typically means trouble so I know I need to investigate what's going on.
