Current version

I admit to some confusion over what the current Win 64 bit version is.  My 'about' dialog in PI says the following:

PixInsight Core for Windows (x86_64 - 64-bit)
Core version 01.06.01.0625 (commercial)

Is this the most recent version? I have checked the software download page I received, and it seems to be.

Yes, this is the current release. Juan is working on the new release, and announced some of its features here, but it is not yet scheduled for distribution.

In the announcements forum there are several bug fixes and upgrades that can be installed after PixInsight 1.6.1.

Hi Max,

I am not writing documentation now. I am working exclusively on the automatic updates system right now. This is a complex work that requires thorough testing and involves also the definition and implementation of PixInsight repositories. Repositories are special websites where all future PixInsight updates will be stored in a secure way. The PixInsight Core application will communicate with existing repositories (user-selectable) and the user will be able to select, download and install available updates.

As soon as I have the automatic updates system ready, I'll release version 1.6.5. The new version comes with the updates system, the reference documentation integrated with Process Explorer, a lot of bug fixes and some new GUI features. Unfortunately the initial set of reference documents will be very reduced, but with the automatic updates system everybody will receive new documents almost on a daily basis.

Everything will be different in PixInsight with automatic updates. We'll have a dynamic system and all bug fixes and improvements will be available to all users almost in real time.

I think this will be ready for release in a week* or so.
