File open dialogue not populating correctly
« on: 2007 September 04 06:30:56 »
I've just downloaded and installed (on Win2Ksp4) version 01.00.40.0320 eng and found that after doing menu File->Open and starting to navigate to my image directory, I get to the point where only 13 out of 18 directories are listed in one particular path.

The path I get to is:
C:\Data\Incoming Downloads

One of the directories I want to get to (and is not listed) is:
C:\Data\Incoming Downloads\HolidayAstro

If I drag and drop a file from this directory, then do File->SaveAs and navigate back from C: down, all directories are listed. But, if I then go to File->Open, and (as originally) directories are missing.

So, bottom line, it looks like the file open dialogue is not populating correctly.

Simon.

Hi Simon,

Yes, this is true. I'm trying to fix this problem before the next release.

This is a Windows-only problem; under Linux file dialogs work correctly, AFAIK. Under Windows (why do you guys insist in using such a useless and virus-prone O.S.?) it seems that we are having some trouble with internal Qt routines. I'm thinking on allowing the use of native Wiindows file dialogs as an option (in Preferences). Anyway, this will be fixed soon; thanks for pointing it out.

What was interesting was that the save dialogue was fine - if it's a QT bug then perhaps you can somehow use the save dialogue Qt routine to get the path of the file the user wants to open. Not as pretty (from a code side of things) but it might get away from having to put in platform specifics until the QT guys fix the bug ....

As for Windows - where would the fun be without its annoying little foibles .... it would be like playing golf and getting a hole in one every time  :D
