Blooming

Last night I had a 'first light' with my new camera (ST-10XME)  My prior images were all done with the ST-2000XM which is an ABG camera while the ST-10 is not.

I shot M33 and the blooming is very minor though it is there on a couple of the brightest stars in the image.

I know a while back there was talk of a bloom removal tool but IIRC it's not in PI as of yet. How do you 'deal' with blooming in PI, or do you (gasp) use other software?

You could take a short exposure set and use the new HDR tool.
Should work better than bloom removal

This requires a few non bloomed subs .. perhaps 6-8 x at 30-45 sec for each filter.

Great camera!  You will love it once you get the hang of exposure lengths and dealing with a few blooms.

It should be a good match for my imaging at 1200mm (1.17 arcseconds per pixel). And it was 'on sale.'  8)
Blooming is not such a big deal on M33 with 300s subs, but later I did a 300s shot of Merope (and surrounding nebulosity) I'm definitely going to have to learn how to use the HDR integration tool.

I ran out of clear skies, so I'll get non-bloomed subs next time out.
