Carlos,

Does this tool works out of the box with OSC images? I am interested in using the tool before debayer my images.. No big deal because I can always fix the defects after debayering prior to staking, but the images are smaller at the beginning of the pipeline.

Nebulosity2 has a feature called bad pixel map, and it can be applied to OSC RAW images...

Cheers,

Jose

Not directly. You may "simulate" this with more complex defect maps, and using a convolution operator (average or gaussian). Not an easy task although (well, not elegant, and require a few extra steps). I'll think about including this feature for the next release.

Anyway, I would give a naive approach a try (using it just out of the box). It will not be the best result, but by all means better than a bad pixel.

When I use a copy of an image to generate a map and then apply the map using the Defect Map tool, I get the following error:

"At address 5FA0738B with exception code C0000005 :
Access violation: invalid memory read operation at address 0C4BA000"

Am I doing something wrong?

The Dark frame map test worked, but I can't start with a source image, clone it, generate a map, then apply the map to the source image...hmmmm.  I should be able to correct?

This sounds strange... I'll try to reproduce that tomorrow, and see if you discovered a bug.

Thanks Carlos.  If you'd like I can send you an e-mail with my test files.  Here are more details for you if it matters: The raw image is a monochrome FITS (16-bit) format from an SBIG 2000XM taken with CCDSoft v5.  I saved the map as a 16-bit unsigned integer format (to keep it 16-bit) in PixInsight.  I was using the Median and Square options.

I just completed an application of the same Map to the same RAW file but switched to Gaussian and Circular parameters and it completed just fine.
