Narrow imaging
« on: 2009 October 09 07:16:10 »
I am starting to do more narrow band imaging. I find it a lot more tricky to do than regular color.  :'(
I find hard to get nice mix of hues from really good data.
This no standards which to judge color balance etc. ???
What are some good approaches to get the most out of this data starting from a linear image.
Are there any suggestions how match channel strengths, use histogram MTF and curves to achieve an optimal result.

What your approach. Random ? Spind the dials until sometime looks good? Right now thats mine. Most unsettling.

Perhaps the advanced experts could help Vincent , Jack, Juan.......

I thinking  all mapped colors like these Hubble palate images of Gamma Cygi that I have been messing with.

It is starting to look nice but I a lack a fundamental approach.

Balancing the colors are a trick for sure.  Neil Fleming is a real guru in this area and moderates a forum on Narrow Band and has a great pdf file that will help with some basics.  It is not a PI tutorial but will give you some basics to help you along.  GO here and scroll down to astro presentation  Narrowband Workflow.   http://www.flemingastrophotography.com/tipstricks.html

You are getting close and making steady progress!
