DBE - delete auto-generated points, how?
« on: 2019 November 22 17:55:24 »
Google suggests that I can remove auto-generated DBE points in locations where I don't want them by clicking on the point and using <DEL> on the keyboard.

This does not work on my MacBook Pro. How do I delete points?
So far, I have just dragged them elsewhere, but that isn't really the right answer.

i think what happens on an apple keyboard is that the delete key generates a backspace instead of a delete. however, i think if you hit fn-delete then the keyboard generates the delete scancode.

i can't test this to be sure since i don't have my macbook with me.. but at any rate there is some chord that does it - could involve the option or control key if it's not fn-delete.

Can't you just select auto generated point and then click on the red "X" just under the title of the process box?

yes but it's a lot faster to use the keyboard when you need to delete a bunch of samples overlying a galaxy or whatnot.

Thanks! Fn-Delete works just fine.

great - i should mention that when DBE auto-creates sample points it starts in the upper left hand corner of the image and goes down to the bottom left, then steps to the next column to the right and repeats. therefore if you pick a sample somewhere in the middle and delete it, DBE selects the next sample, which is the one below the one you just deleted. hence you can start at some position in a column of samples and quickly delete samples beneath that sample by repeatedly hitting the delete key on the keyboard. that's what i meant about deleting a bunch of samples.

pfile - that is useful to know. Thanks. Using DBE will now be a lot less painful :-)
