Can't install PI 1.8.8 on my Ubuntu computer
« on: 2019 November 20 09:55:10 »
I had the version 1.8.6 installed according to this procedure:
https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=6336.0
Unfortunately, it doesn't work with Version 1.8.8 so I am not able to update it.
Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas? Any help would be great.

Hi,

Perhaps uninstall your existing PixInsight and then install the latest version.

Does not matter. The thing is that the installer file is not properly recognised.
I also already tried to use the installer of the previous version but that didn't correctly install the new version.

mmmh, did the new version download correctly.  I think there is a checksum for the download.  Please check that that the download is 100% and then try the install.  If the install fails then there should be an entry in a log file, which is normally found under /var/log

Thank you.
I didn't find that checksum but I downloaded the new version again. Now it is working. I already intalled the new version and everything seems to work fine.
Thanks for the help.
