Saving a Star Mask

On saving a star mask the dialog box indicates to save as a 16 bit integer. Should save as 16 bit or change this to a 32 bit IEEE 742 floating point? The mask was created from an .xisf file.

I don't think it matters as long as the geometry is the same.

I would think saving a mask as anything other than 16-bit would be over kill.

well, was the image that you extracted the starmask from a 32-bit floating point image? is the starmask itself a 32-bit FP image? if so, and you save as 16 bit, you will lose some data. maybe not much, but some for sure.
