Stacking the stacks from SharpCap
« on: 2019 August 02 07:58:51 »
I've been exporting SC individual stacks (32 bit raw stack FITS file) into PI to do post-processing.  I now want to stack multiple stacks from SC in PI using the same OSC camera with the same settings before post-processing.  Since I've never stacked in PI, is there a specific workflow for this or simply multiple options that I need to do some trial and error to find the best approach?

Hi,

Drop me a mail  (John.Gill013@gmail.com) and I will send you a txt document with suggested workflow for OSC pre and post processing suggestions.  This is not a "cook-book" but more of a basic guide....

I wouldn't use the stacks from SharpCap, PixInsight has tools to select/discard bad frames and first class algorithms to align and integrate images,  export the raw fit files and work from there, I believe the stacking facility in SharpCap is live stacking and only intended for viewing in a live situation, it was never intended to be used for processing images....but I may be wrong.

Have a look at Warren Kellers book on PixInsight it has suggested workflows, I wouldn't be without it!!
