Photometric Color Calibration problems after update

Hi,

After the june update, I am having dificulties with PCC. Not sure why.

Sometimes it solves sometimes it doesnt, but it always fails in the end. Not having any troubles with the image solver script though.

Example Image11_ABE has been solved with plate solve script. Then has ABE applied and then Background Neutralization. Attempts to run PCC follow:

You can try to use another database server. Sometimes the servers fail silently.

You can try to reset the catalog cache. This can be done using one of these different methods:
  • Open ImageSolver, click in the database button and click "Reset Catalog Cache". See the attached screenshot.
  • Open the script editor and in the Execute menu select the option "Reset JavaScript Runtime". See the attached screenshot.
  • Close PixInsight and restart it  :)

Hi Andrés :) thank you for you help and for your patience.

I am facing a new problem with a new image that I integrated with drizzle.

Astrometry.net could solve it without any problem but when I try to solve it with ImageSolver it "finds" stars that do not exist, but not the "true" stars.... I corrected the Resolution in Arcsec/pix (that was modified by Drizzle x2) but it doesn't help...

The processes I used are

Calibration (Darks, Bias and pannel flats)
Cosmetic Correction
First gradient reduction on subs via ABE/DBE applied on ImageContainers
Subframe Selection
Star Alignment (worked well except on greens, where I had to increase sensitivity, ransac iterations and tolerance)
Local Normalization
ImageIntegration
DrizzleIntegration Scale 2

Then very slight DynamicCrop on masters
MultiscaleLinearTransform with a LightMask
AutoHistogram with “Logarithmic Transformation“ to help Linear Transformation
Double HistogramTransformation with manual black point clipping
TGVDenoise (with an AutoclipHTF process on the LightMask)
then a very last HTF to enhance the images

RGB
Then trying to ImageSolve the result in order to performe a PhotometricCC but this is where things get weird :))

First of all, you have published non-linear images. All of them have been stretched. PCC needs linear images. This is not a recommendation but a requirement.

Second, ImageSolver uses StarAligment for detecting the stars. SA is optimized for linear images, and although it usually works with stretched images, in difficult cases like this, it can fail to work properly.

Why is this a difficult case? The image is extremely oversampled. It has a resolution of 0.22 sec/pix that only would be optimal with professional equipment in a extremely good sky. I would not use drizzle integration on this image. This method is only recommended for subsampled images and yours is extremely oversampled.

In any case I have been able to solve it (this is why I know the resolution is 0.22) using the recommendations that I wrote in the documentation:

Thank you so much for the advice on oversampling :)

I did not fully understand this part of the documentation as I didn't realize that the images had to be linear ... /dumb
