Oftentimes, at the end of a long image processing session, I will be happy with the final result except for dark halos around some of the stars. It is frustrating to have to go "way back" to try (not always successfully) to prevent the dark halos while retracing the processing steps. So, I developed this approach to remove dark halos around stars in the final image. The link below is to a tutorial showing how to use this approach.

I've only used it a few times, but, so far it is working well.
