New version installation
« on: 2019 June 02 08:42:00 »
I can not install the latest version because a message informs me that an older version exists.
However, I deleted the previously installed version.
Is this a bug?
Any help will be welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

My guess is that you are using a Windows PC. If so, go to the "Control Panel" and the "Program and Features" scroll thru the list and see if PixInsight is listed.  If so, select it, right-click and un-install.  You should "reboot" the pc to get a fresh new start before re-installing PixInsight.

If PixInsight is not listed then you might need to run some other software to clean up the "Registry" and remove old files etc.  I have used a program called "Revo" to do this.

Thank you for your answer, but I deleted the program and it no longer appears in applications.
I also cleaned the registry with CCleaner.
Do you have another track?

mmmh, perhaps try the following (but I don't think it will work)

try installing an older version of PI and then uninstall it.  This might clear out the problem.

Is there any error message that appears when doing the normal installation?

I tried to reinstall version 1457 which was the deleted version.
A new error message appears:
"Astronomy is not a valid short file name"
I then tried to install the older version 1448.
The error message is then:
"Another version of this product is already installed ......"
I turn around !
