CatalogStarGenerator: Catalog Problems
« on: 2018 November 09 08:31:59 »
Very recently I observed  catalog problems similar to a problem reported Jan 22, 2017  .
Contrary to the advice given there, they could not be resolved by lowering
the star magnitute:
(1) Some catalogs (e.g. Tycho2) give proper results at times, but sometimes the following error
message appears: Error.ReferenceError: TITLE not defined.
(2) Using PPMXL and the parameters shown in the appended jpg, I either get the above error message
or an image with no stars in the four corners. Effect could not be influenced by changing the maximum magnitude.
(3) When using the Gaia2 catalog, I either get an image with stars in the lower right corner only, or I get completely
empty images. Process console: No stars painted.

The parameters in your screenshot work for me without problems.
Have you tried to change the server?

If it still fails it would be useful if you send me the text of the console.

In any case, you have to keep in mind that when the queried field is too big the online catalog server is very slow and sometimes doesn't return all the stars. A field of view of 37 degrees is too big for Gaia. That is the reason why the script supports several scripts. You should use a catalog matched for the field that you are requesting. There is a short explanation in the section 2.3 of the documentation of ImageSolver.
