Star Alignment
« on: 2018 August 15 00:18:49 »
Hi. I'm just learning about Star Alignment. Is it possible to do star alignment on multiple targets in the one Star Alignment run? At the top it asks to chose a reference image that the other images are aligned on, however, if multiple target images are desired to be aligned, the reference image won't apply to the other target images. So, can a whole night of many targets be done in the one Star Alignment run?

Many thanks

No, if you have multiple reference images/targets you need to run StarAlignment separately for each.  You can create process icons for multiple StarAlignment runs and put them all in a process container if what you're trying to do is kick off a batch run to do several targets.

Cheers,
Rick.

Okay, thanks Rick.

This is a shame. In Maxim DL, one can load many images of different targets and then Maxim stacks them according to their name - e.g. by NGC number (if asked to). The images can been analysed via PinPoint astrometry beforehand and then stacked based on this - you don't need to stipulate a reference image... It's a fast way to stack many image targets (I have four observatories).

Perhaps PixInsight could look at something similar...

While not really what your looking, if you have the computing power you can open multiple instances of PixInsight on your computer to stack different image sets at the same time. Also the license agreement allows for the owner of the license to have PixInsight installed and running concurrently on as many computers as they need even on different OS's.

Just thought that might be of interest.
