First try at integration of frames, strange outcome
« on: 2018 February 17 03:21:27 »
Hi all!
First post here.
So I was going to try stacking my data in PI for the first time, so I started with my bias frames and this came out.
Any ideas?
Single frames looks normal in PI.

Counter questions: What is normal? Why is your integrated bias a RGB image?

Without some more information nobody can answer your question. So, please: What type of camera (DSLR, OSC, monochrome), what type of files? Any notifications in the Process Console during/after integration? Is it really that difficult?

Well, a third of the image has no data as you can see.
Why woildn't it be an rgb image? It's shot on DSLR, not sure I follow you  :)
It's all raw files and I didn't get any error message during integration.
And YES, it's really that difficult!

Hi Goran!
i assume you have switched on  "ImageFlip" in your DSLR.
Your Bias looks 90 degrees rotated.

You can, before loading the bias into PI, set in the
"FormatExplorer" in PI the "DSLR RAW" format in the
"RAW Format Preferences"
to
"No Image Flip"

By the way - DSLR RAW(!) images are not RGB they are "Grey",
after debayering they become RGBs. You have to run your BIAS Integration with
the RAW gray images! So your integrated bias has to be "Gray" and not RGB.
Again,  in the RAW Format Preferences switch on "Create raw Bayer CFA Image"
than you get a gray image instead of an RGB.

And, YES it`s really that simple - the more info you provide, the better help you can get - ...
So, we all have to guess when we have not enough information.
"Normal" alone is no information at all.

Thank's for that clear answer Gerald!
Just what I needed.
I thought it was a bug since when I opened a single frame it showed data over the whole frame, that why I wrote "normal" apposed to the integrated frame missing a third of the frame.
Thank's for the side info about the raw format, didn't know that.
I followed a written tutorial and there was no mention about performing special settings in that process.
Gonna try your suggestions and see if it works.
Thanks's again!

Will try to be more specific the next time, trying to understand this software coming from DSS, is very hard for a neewbie like me.
