PCL Win32 System Exception, Windows 10 64 bit Home
« on: 2017 January 01 08:12:37 »
Hello,

I get the subject error at random times and on random processes using version 01.08.04.1195 Ripley (x64).  I've gotten it zooming in and out on images, modifying previews, stacking images, etc.  Any thoughts on how to make this go away. I have a PC that I just purchased 2 weeks ago (new) with Windows 10 64 bit home, 16GB of memory and the latest i7 processor.  The error does not occur again if I "CTRL ALT DEL" and restart Pix on then perform the same process.

Surely someone else is having this problem?  Any suggestions?

if it's a dell machine or touchscreen machine, search the forum, there's lots of posts about problems with those machines.

Rob,

It's not a Dell, but it is a touch screen.  Thank you for the suggestion, I'll do some research.

I just installed PI on my Asus (Intel i7, Windows 10, 32GB RAM, non touch 4K screen). I encountered the problem using DBE. Once I closed DBE, I did not have the problem for the remainder of the session.

The problem also occurs when using dynamic crop

This is a bug in the current version 1.8.4 of PixInsight on Windows. It happens only with high-dpi monitors on some machines, mainly laptops.

Here is the fix:

- From the main menu, select EDIT > Global Preferences.

- On the Preferences window, select the Core UI Resources section on the left panel.

- On the right panel, uncheck the Automatic UI scaling option.

- Depending on your monitor resolution, set the UI scaling factor to something like 1.0, 1.5 or 2.0. For a 4K monitor like yours, I'd use 1.5. The larger the scaling factor, the larger the fonts and icons will be represented on the screen.

- Click the Apply Global icon (blue sphere) or press F6 to apply.

- Exit PixInsight.

- Run PixInsight.

Let me know if this helps.

This problem has already been fixed in the next version 1.8.5 of PixInsight.
