So I am a newish Pixinsight owner, and I must confess to be totally bemused at some of the UI design.  Why do some functions use a circle to process, while some use a square?  why to we sometimes need to drag a triangle to a window, and why sometimes we have more conventional ticks and cross buttons?

Hi,

Solid circles are for applying the setting globally (to all target frames)
Squares are for applying the setting to a single instance (single frame) or to execute a command like "PixelMath"
Triangles are for applying to a specific target frame (drag triangle to a target frame) or to copy settings from one process to another like ScreenTransferFunction ---> Histogram

Many of the PixInsight processes have been written by various developers over time, so some older processes have ticks and crosses.

Perhaps one day the development team will rewrite these  scripts and have uniformity to everything .... but then PixInsight will be boring hahahaha.  It does take a little time to learn all these options and settings and sliders and buttons etc so don't give up.
