Oversize Star Mask
« on: 2017 October 17 06:55:39 »
I posted this on the General board with no response. When I generate a starmask in V1.8.5 it pops up magnified double the size of the sub. This is not a disaster as I can resize it but this was not an issue with 1.8.4. I assume it's not just a box i failed to check or uncheck. Windoes 7 SP1, Intel HD Graphics  using an Intel i5 with 16 gb ram and ssd.

I think I understand your problem and this is not new. When StarMask generates a mask, the new image is placed in the workspace as 'Zoom to Fit' where other functions might use 'Zoom to Optimal Fit'. This has been the case as long as I can remember. In 1.8.4 you might have had the Yellow divider bar more towards the middle of the workspace. This bar limits the 'Zoom to Fit' size and 'Zoom to Optimal Fit'. I wish I remembered the official name for the bar :o

Here is a screen shot that hopefully shows this action.

Thanks for the response Mike. Sure enough, if I move the yellow line more than 1/3 of the way toward the left side of the screen it does indeed create a star mask the same size as the sub. I never kept the yellow line that far to the left (I don't use the function so I keep it close to the right side) so possibly something caused the change in the latest rev.

It's always been that way that I can remember and I've been using PI since 2012. Have you changed screen resolution or something along those lines maybe? The zoom function is based on the horizontal/vertical resolution of the image and available horizontal/vertical space in the workspace. If that changed in the image by some means like cropping an image or re-sampling, even a change to camera settings liking binning can have an effect on the zoom to fit. The yellow bar simply limits the perceived workspace horizontal resolution when images are generated/re-generated.

I have not changed resolution so I have no explanation. I know I have not changed the position of the yellow line because I had placed my process icons to the right hand side of the screen with the left side of the icons lining up with the yellow line and reuse this as a project. I had saved this project prior to the 1.8.5 upgrade.
