Uninstalling Fails
« on: 2017 September 25 15:06:24 »
I'm a long time user of PI and currently on 1.08.05.1352 on Windows 7 Pro 64bit. When I attempted to remove this version through the control panel add and remove programs, I had two PixInsight entries. Each one of these threw and error and asked if I wanted to remove the entry from the list (which I did). 1352 is still and installed and working so I can't install the latest version. I have rebooted the machine.

Is there a way to manually remove PI? Just renaming the directory in Program files does not work.

If you go into your programs from your start icon and find "PixInsight Platform" and expand that option, there is a "Uninstall PixInsight" option.  Maybe that would work better.

Joe,

I have a PixInsight folder. Within this, I have PixInsight - New Instance, PixInsight - Reset Settings, PixInsight Website and PixInsight. I don't have any other options.

I was able to fix this issue by finding the Installer key under Computer\HKCR\Installer and renaming it. Once I did this, the new version would install without issues.

I had this same problem (same Win7 64bit) and, to fix it, Juan put the 1352 installation code back up on the PI download websight. From the first screen of the 1352 installation, you can choose to remove the program.  Then installing 1353 goes fine.
