Can't load L.Norm files with ImageIntegration
« on: 2017 September 23 21:18:46 »
I was able to use the L.Norm. files with my last image, but I can't for some reason on my current one. The steps that I did leading up to this:

  • I aligned all of my images in one step with StarAlignment, and I generated drizzle data with this step.
  • I ran LocalNormalization on each set of L/R/G/B/Ha separately.
  • I brought up ImageIntegration, added the set of files from one filter, added the corresponding drizzle files (which created  the "d" tags), then attempted to add the L.Norm. files.

At this point, I get an error popup saying "No local normalization data files have been assigned to integration source images." I tried this on a couple of different filters, with the same results.

On my last image, I figured out that I needed to add the Drizzle files first, then the L.Norm. files, in order to get it to work. But it doesn't make a difference on this file. Obviously, I'm doing something differently this time, but I don't know what it is.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
I had the same message recently, turns out I accidently loaded the wrong lights with the LN process, I read a tutorial which suggested storing the LN files in the same folder as the Registered Lights (one shot colour for me), that way you cant make a mistake like this.

For you, if your not already doing it, Have separate folders for L, R, G, B & Ha registered images, when running LN on them choose the same destination folder which your 'Red' lights are in, same with your drizzle files. So, for example, all your 'Red' registered Lights, all you 'Red' LN files and all your 'Red' drizzle files all reside in the same folder.

When it comes to the final integration, load up all your 'Red' registered lights, when loading your L Norm files they will be in the same folder as will your drizzle files.

Took me a couple of hours to work out that I did actually use my original Light subs for the L Norm process   LOLOL  Easy done

Regards
Paul

Paul,

Thanks for you reply. I was going to reply back that I properly had everything set up roughly as you described, but I decided to open one of the .xnml normalization files first. Lo and behold, they were pointing to the unregistered frames. I redid the LN process, making sure that I was pointing to the registered frames, and it's working now.

Thanks for setting me straight.

Dave

p.s. I actually did read your thread before I posted my initial inquiry in this thread, but I was sure that my problem was different. There's a saying in my family - we may not always be right, but we're always sure. That certainly applies here...

LMAO @ dave,

There's a saying in our family too....The Mrs is always right !   Or so she thinks

Glad your up & running Dave, it's so easy to be sure for sure

One things for sure though, LN certainly makes the background in my final integration look so much smoother

Agreed. I inserted the LN step just before running ABE and/or DBE on the linear image, and I find that I can't even perceive much (if any) difference after using ABE or DBE. LN seems to clean it up to the point where ABE/DBE are becoming unnecessary in the linear stage, at least based on my last two images.
