Preview Problems
« on: 2017 July 30 20:08:53 »
Hi people,
Two days ago (as a newbie) I was playing around with previews without any problems. So I was creating previews within previews, moving them to the work area etc. to see what could be done with them. I was creating them by using alt-N.
Yesterday I opened an image I was processing and tried to create a preview but alt-N wouldn't work and neither did the icons nor the options under the preview menu.
I shut PI down and opened it this morning and again I couldn't generate a preview until I read that they can be generated by going to the Image menu then down to the Mode sub-menu and selecting new preview (alt-N).
This worked fine using this method but even after creating a preview I still cannot use alt-N, I have to go back to the Image menu.
I notice that my preview icons have a small green circle with a plus sign in them which I'm not sure I've noticed before, could there be a setting somewhere that I need to do?
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Cheers.

Steve.

Hi Steve,

The only way to disable Alt-N that I know of is to turn off "Show Previews" via the main menu (Previews>Show Previews) or from the image right click menu.

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Rick,
Previews wasn't turned off in any way, I just opened an image (same as before) and created a preview but I'm not sure it's still working as it should.
I tried creating a second preview in the same image and alt-N didn't work but it did work creating a second preview in the first preview.
Something sounds a bit screwy.
Also I had to delete them in order from reverse to first. I couldn't delete say the second one and then the last, I had to start with the last and make my way back up the list.
Strange but thanks for the reply.

Steve.
