What is best DSLR processing ?
« on: 2017 January 30 02:19:09 »
Hello everyone,

by scanning Internet and this forum, I see that everyone one has his method for the processing of DSLR pictures.

Related to me, I usually do the complete pre-processing of my pictures.
I extract then luminance from my pre-processed image.
I do a specific processing of luminance.
After processing background of the RGB picture, I combine luminance and I finish the processing of my picture.

However I am not sure that my method is the best.

My questions are the following ones:
- Wouldn't it be better to extract luminance during the pre-processing? If yes, when is the best time to do it? Before or after debayer, before or after cosmetic correction?
- Will the extraction of the RGB channels from the picture and the separately processing of them as a CCD picture brings something more?

I didn’t find any workflow, but if you have some links I am interested.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hi,

I do not think that there is a "best" workflow for DSLR. Every picture is unique... However - related to your questions -, I found this tutorial/workflow very useful:

Thank you very much for your reply.
Indeed, this workflow is very usefull.
Now I'm wondering if the separation of channels wouldn't be more pertinent during the pre-processing ?
I will probably do my own tests to check the difference between the different workflow, but any other input is welcome.  ;)
