INVALID AUTHORISATION CODE
« on: 2016 November 08 12:57:25 »
Hi All, I installed the trial version of PixInsight on Windows 10 (64 bit) and all was going well. I was quite impressed. However, I was prompted to install 18 updates which I did. It said it had worked with no errors. However, when I ran PixInsight up again the error 'INVALID AUTHORISATION CODE' was shown. I requested a new license code which was granted and used the PixInsight uninstall option. However, when running PixInsight up again the same error was shown and I was not prompted to enter a new license code. So, I tried completely uninstalling PixInsight and reinstalling it. Same problem, but now two copies of PixInsight Core are shown in the Apps list, one as 'PixInsight Core' and one as 'PixInsight Core - New Instance'. Even if I restore my computer back to an earlier restore point and then reinstall PixInsight two copies of PixInsight appear after installation. Then the same error code appears when trying to run PixInsight. I sent an email to the PixInsight guys a few days ago but haven't received a response yet. I'm quite keen to get this fixed so I can decide whether I should buy the software.

First 'PixInsight Core' and 'PixInsight Core - New Instance' are from the same single installation, not 2 separate installs. When you have PixInsight running you can start a second PixInsight on your computer. This is the 'New Instance'.

As far as the license take a look at the FAQ on the main web sight. Start at section 2.7 which is talking about reactivating a license.

Hope you get your PI issues resolved. :)

Thanks Mike, really appreciate your advice. That fixed it ! Based on what it said in faq 2.7 I moved the license file to somewhere else, used the PixInsight uninstall option. Running PixInsight I was then prompted for user ID and license code which worked. Kev
