Hi there,

my first post and I don't know wether the problem is inside or infront of the computer ;)

If I Open any process it does not show up in currant workspace. I have to change to a different workspace, go back and than its visible. If I tooltip the currant workspace I can see the process in the preview.
Bug or nonunderstood feature?

Hi Andreas,

This behavior is extremely strange. We haven't seen it before, and of course we are unable to reproduce it on any platform and machine. Keep in mind that the Linux version is the reference implementation of PixInsight, so it is the most stable, reliable and "perfect" version of PixInsight by far. A problem of this kind cannot pass unnoticed, of course.

Linux Mint is not one of the Linux distributions we use for testing (they are, by order of importance, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Fedora and Ubuntu). However, many PixInsight users work on Mint without problems. There is something wrong or strange in your desktop or video configuration. What hardware are you using? Which desktop environment?

Hi Juan,

its a Linux Mint Mate 17.1 on hardware like this: screenshot

Its not happening anytime like described, sometimes the process or script opens instantly and I can open several of them - or any process I open acts like described above. It feels like it has somehow to do where the cursor pointed before but somhow not...can't reproduce this.

Hi Juan,

the strange behavior has gone - don't really know what caused it go :surprised:. The problem persisted some sessions in the last weeks and even survived an update.
Now I just unhooked all special GUI Effects. Rehooking them one by one didn't bring back the problem so... ???

Back to work :)

Andreas

edit:
I was too fast. Problem is back with image file open, unhooking all special GUI Effects again solves the problem.

Hi,

I am experiencing the same problem since I switched to Linux Mint. I run PI in Mint 17 (qiana) in a Lenovo thinkpad e330 laptop.

After trying different options in the "Special GUI effects"  section on the Global Preferences, I found out that this is solved by disabling the option "Translucent workspace top-level windows".

Hope this helps.

Are you using Cinnamon? We only test PixInsight on KDE and GNOME, which are the recommended and officially supported desktop managers on X11.

Hi,
It is Linux 17, MATE 1.8.1. No idea whether this is compatible with official GNOME or not?.
Thanks.
