Aligning and combining planetary images
« on: 2016 March 13 14:34:21 »
How do you align and register planetary images when there are no stars for alignment?  I have R,G,B images of Jupiter made from stacks created is Registack/Autoustaakard2.  Those programs don't have a function for RGB combine.  Can planetary images be combined in PI?

Thanks,

Rodd

Come on experts--any ideas/tips?  Imaging planets in RGB has become very popular.  But there are no stars in the images--how to align and stack the RGB frames?  Registack and Ast2 stack Avis/Sers--not Fits.  HELP!!!

I am not an expert on this, but you should try FFTRegistration script.
It should support align of starless Images.

Gerald is right, but also can't registax or autostakkert! produce a set of images that are already all aligned to some single frame?

I don't think so.  They stack the AVIs into a Fits or Tiff frame.  But not RGB tiffs/.fits into an image--as far as I know.
