Help troubleshooting issue with "New Instance"
« on: 2015 September 26 04:01:38 »
I'm having an issue which prevents me from using the "New Instance" functionality in PixInsight.

When clicking an dragging the New Instance option in the bottom left of a window, behind my cursor is the icon for the window and then in the bottom right of the cursor is a small "X". There seems to be no place I can drop the New Instance, preventing me from doing even the most basic things in PI like copying STF into HistoTransformation.

Another example would be making a dynamic crop, then trying to save the crop to the workspace so that I can do identical crops. I get the "X" in the cursor, and am unable to save the instance to the workspace.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I somehow turned this off.

I'm running Pixinsight 1.08.04.1170 Ripley (x64) on Ubuntu. I've tried re-installing PI and running the older version, without any luck. This used to work for me, I'm not sure why it stopped.

I appreciate any help.

The first thing to try is getting the latest version which is .1171

I went ahead and deleted every PI file I could find as well as installed the latest version .1171 and did the updates. The issue still persists.

I'm assuming the only relevant directories/files for PI are (by default):

/opt/PixInsight/
/tmp/PixInsight*
~/.PixInsight

I deleted all of those and re-installed. Assuming those are the only directories/files relevant to PI, I get the feeling this isn't something I just "turned off", but rather a bug.

I have the same problem with the latest version 01.08.04.1195 Ripley (x64), someone knows what can occur.
