Save global settings/preferences for re-installation?
« on: 2015 November 25 09:16:57 »
I have a new computer and thus need to re-install PI.  Is it possible to save all the user settings and preferences, including favorite processes and global preferences, so that I can install PI and just load all those preferences up without having to do it all again?

I have the same question. Each time I uninstall a previous version and install a new one, as the one recently announced, I have the same issue including re-configuring toolbar setup.

Joel,

I just deleted my old version and loaded the new one and my settings/preferences appear to have been preserved...

The global preferences, color management and readout options can be saved as desktop icons.  If you save those desktop icons they can be re-applied if your settings are lost after installing a new version.  Keep in mind that if there are differences in the setting this may not work perfectly but in general I've found that the settings that haven't changed get applied correctly.  You can also save your favorites through the Process menu.

Regards,
David

Thanks David.  This is good to know for the future as I have already set everything up all over again for this new install of PI.
