PixInsight Standard 01.00.01.203 Beta 1 Released
« on: 2006 May 25 01:04:32 »
The latest version of the PixInsight Standard core application, 1.0.1.203 Beta 1, is now available for download:

Along with a number of bug fixes and improvements, this new version comes with the whole set of geometric transforms that will be included in the standard set of processes for the final release.

A significant improvement is that all standard PixInsight modules remember now the positions and sizes of their processing interfaces across sessions. Of course this works nicely on multiple monitor systems. A number of interfaces also remember important user-defined data. In particular, auto-clipping histogram values persist now across sessions.

This release is entirely based on our customized version of Qt 4.1.3 and PCL 1.0.1.65 RC3.

New Processes

ChannelMatch, Crop, IntegerResample, Resample, Rotation (Geometry category). All of these include important improvements and added functionality with respect to the LE freeware application.

Improved Processes

ChannelCombination, ChannelExtraction, LRGBCombinations, RGBWorkingSpace (ColorSpaces category), CurvesTransform, HistogramTransform (TransferCurves category).

Important Bug Fixes

- The FITS support module is able now to handle "exotic" FITS files generated by other applications. In particular, peculiar unsigned 16-bit FITS files with BZERO=32767 can be opened now flawlessly in PixInsight, as far as they meet the standard. See the Bug Reports section on this Forum for more information.

- A problem with brackets and parentheses in file names has been fixed. PixInsight can open now image files with backets and other punctuation characters in their names, as long as they are valid file names on the corresponding platform.

Important Updates

The FITS support module uses now the CFITSIO library version 3.006 (latest version).

Enjoy it!
